ACCEL Schools is seeking highly motivated Instructional Coaches in Columbus, OH, who are dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking experienced Instructional Coaches who are excited to support Principals and teachers in creating a rigorous and nurturing environment that prioritizes student engagement and achievement.

 

Through the application of research-based practices, our staff of passionate educators work tirelessly to raise student achievement, regardless of historical barriers, while committed to participating in ongoing professional development, job embedded instructional coaching, and embracing a growth mindset. 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

While the Instructional Coach will assume ownership of and responsibility for developing and supporting Kindergarten – 8th grade teachers, it is important to note that s/he will work alongside the Principal to:

  • Meet all annual goals related to student achievement and school culture.
  • Facilitate the implementation of a standards-based curriculum, review lesson plans weekly, and conduct.
  • Perform frequent teacher observations and debriefs.
  • Facilitate a growth-focused professional environment.
  • Work with staff to plan and coordinate professional development, teacher-based teams, staff in-service days, and family orientations.
  • Coordinate special projects, such as peer mentoring, service learning and community involvement.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and colleagues.
  • Assist with updating parent and student manuals, policies, and handbooks.
  • Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards.
  • Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school’s philosophy and mission statement in all school activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent results in increasing student achievement academically and social-emotionally
  • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
  • Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
  • Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Experience in coaching teachers to improve their instructional planning, instructional practice, and classroom culture
