Description

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Behavioral Specialist in Roseville, MI, providing at-risk students critical support to address conduct, disciple or attendance issues. The Behavior Specialist staffs a Time Out Room, modeling behavior management strategies and ensuring that class assignments are completed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the school leader(s), develop, implement and post Time Out Room procedures.
  • Supervise and maintain a disciplined Time Out Room that may include students receiving detention or in-school suspension
  • Serves as an Absence Intervention Team member and develop Absence Intervention Plans
  • Contribute actively to achieving school-wide daily attendance and office referral goals
  • Communicate with teachers, parents and others in finding positive solutions for behavior modification
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation consistent with school policies and procedures
  • Support lessons taught or assigned by the teacher or school leader(s)
  • Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, morning duty, dismissal duty, and lunch duty

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, health, or other related field preferred.
  • Intervention Specialist license preferred
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working with teenagers as a teacher, social worker, tutor or mentor, preferably in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
  • Track record of building trust and positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to maintain composure and job performance under changing or stressful conditions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact at all times
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
