ACCEL Schools is seeking a friendly, energetic and ethical Special Education Coordinator in Cincinnati, OH to support all school-level SPED efforts such as compliance matters, reporting, staffing, leading IEP team meetings, and other duties as needed across 3 to 5 schools throughout the ACCEL Network.

Position Summary:

 

The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the SPED programs at the assigned schools that provide educational assistance to children with mental, psychological, learning, behavioral, and/or physical disabilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support professional development of Special Education Department staff and Intervention Specialists
  • Travel weekly between multiple schools across Ohio to support Special Education efforts throughout our Network
  • Demonstrate commitment to advance the professional learning and practice of intervention specialists
  • Commit to the roles and responsibilities to maintaining timely and appropriate communications with Intervention Specialists
  • Create and foster positive learning environments for Intervention Specialists
  • Advocate for student learning and employ instructional mentoring strategies designed to help Intervention Specialists enhance student learning
  • Consistently meets deadlines for assigned tasks and projects while completing quality work
  • Provides observations, coaching, support and evaluations to Intervention Specialists
  • Lead and facilitate IEP, ETR and 504 meetings
  • Provides technical guidance and suggestions related to special education instruction and compliance
  • Ensures compliance with all statutes and reporting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education (Mild/Mod)
  • Knowledge of Ohio State Standards and Common Core Standards
  • Reliable Transportation; ability to travel daily is required
  • At least one year of experience in a similar position
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Understanding and ability to manage confidential information
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in an urban and/or school turnaround setting is a plus
