Description

ACCEL Schools is seeking Technology teachers for its online charter school Peak Prep.  Peak Prep uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods. 

 

The Technology Teacher provides instruction in digital art, animation, graphic design, web design, and other related content areas in conformity with the school philosophy and policies and rules of the governing bodies.

 

Duties include

  • Teaches digital and technology topics, utilizing course of study adopted by the State’s Department of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Incorporates 21st century technology skills into instruction.
  • Align material to standards and or create course material aligned to applicable standards
  • Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and techniques.
  • Maintains a safe classroom environment
  • Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and gym/field areas to ensure the over-all safety of students.
  • Maintains control of storage and use as well as required inventory records of school-owned property such as equipment and instructional aids.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
  • Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports.
  • Collaborates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students, including those with an Individualized Education Plan or those learning English as a second language.
  • Integrates culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Motivate students to achieve their full attendance, academic, and behavioral goals, as well as other goals identified
  • Keep accurate records on each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication on an ongoing basis with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
  • Perform student home visits as needed
  • Prepare and administer all standardized tests as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Current California teaching license in all relevant content areas and grade bands
  • Familiarity with the Response to Intervention (RTI) process
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions
  • Prior online teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • A passion for teaching and genuine care for children
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
  • Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to work with a diverse and distributed student body and peer group
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks
  • California residence
